Message from the Founder of CMI: My professional journey in the maritime industry spans many years at sea, where I progressed from Second Engineer to Chief Engineer, serving on a range of vessels under demanding operational and environmental conditions. These experiences not only strengthened my technical expertise but also shaped my leadership, resilience, and commitment to excellence.
In mid-July 2015, I reached a defining point in my career and made the deliberate decision to transition from seafaring into entrepreneurship, establishing Coastal Marine Investments CC (CMI). This decision was driven by a long-standing vision to contribute more directly to the marine engineering and ship repair sector.
The foundation of this vision date back to 2009 while I was in Cape Town, overseeing a vessel’s dry-dock repairs. It was during this period that I first recognized the opportunity to build a company grounded in technical excellence and practical industry experience. The concept further evolved in 2010 upon my return to Namibia, where I was entrusted with supervising another vessel repair project at Namport Syncrolift, at Walvis Bay.
During this project, I had the privilege of working alongside a distinguished Spanish Marine Architect, whose expertise in keel and hull repair brought invaluable insight to the operation. Our daily technical discussions broadened my perspective on ship repair methodologies and reinforced my ambition to establish a company capable of delivering high-quality marine engineering solutions.
The journey to founding CMI has been guided by faith, perseverance, and a deep sense of purpose. I remain profoundly grateful for the opportunities, mentorship, and experiences that have shaped this path. Today, CMI stands as a reflection of that journey – built on integrity, technical competence, and an unwavering commitment to service excellence in the maritime and offshore sectors.
